The temple of Shri Raghunath Jew is located at the banks of the Baitarani River which is known as Odisha’s Ganga.

From Jajpur towards Kendujhar on NH 215 and 7 km ahead from Ghasipura there is a village named Vira Govindpur, the temple is only 50 meters away from the main road. Lord Shri Ram, Mata Sita and Brother Laxman have been worshipped here.

According to the Legends the king of Kendujhar, Shri Govinda Bhanja had brought Maa Tarini along with Madmohan and Shri Raghunath Jew from a remote state named Kanchi after his victory in the battle in the year 1452. While coming from Puri to Kendujhar, Shri Raghunath Jew was brought on an elephant but it stopped at Vira Govindapur and sat on its knees and did not proceed further. King Govinda Bhanja prayed Shri Raghunath Jew and he ordered the king that he wants to be worshipped at the same place. Afterwards an elegant was built by the king for Raghunath Jew. The name Vira Gobindapur has been derived from the king’s name the brave King Gobind.
