On the bank of Kusabhadra river and the Bay of Bengal the temple of Goddess Ramchandi is situated, the presiding deity of the Konark region is worshipped here with reverence. Amongst the Eight saviour Goddess (Asta Chandi) of ancient land of Lord Surya (Sun God), Maa Ramchandi is best and first worshipped. According to historic facts and figures as described in Sarala’s Mahabharata, Purusottam Mahatmya and Madala Panji (dialects), the location and greatness of Maa Ramachandi has been splendidly described. There has been legends related to Maa Ramachandi in the local areas of Konark. In various fables and folk songs the descriptions of this place are found hence it is located in the treasure of natural beauty and at the shore of Indian Ocean.

As mentioned in the mid part of Sarala Mahabharata, Shri Ramachandra decided to make bridge till Lanka to rescue Sita Mata. He laid a foundation stone here after worshiping it at “Maa Ramachandi”. But as adviced of “Bibhisana” Lor Eamachandra did not start the bridge from here and he did so from Rameswaram (Southern part).

Ramchandi Beach is known for water sports that it offers to its visitors. It is one of the best places to enjoy surfing destination in India. Ramchandi is popular for its annual festival when one has the chance to both enjoy adventure sports and the sand sculpture art.
